Brave Boy

Campbell had his Kindergarten shots the other day.  We've discussed it for quite awhile and would have been done in Marc if he hadn't been sick with horrible ear infections.  One morning, months before the shots, Marc went in to wake the boys up and Campbell was wide awake staring at the ceiling.  Campbell said, "I thought morning would never get here.  I need to ask Mommy how many shots I'm getting."

Campbell was so brave and he didn't cry or even flinch for the first three shots.  But that last one, the MMR, is a nasty burning one and his eyes just welled up with tears.  The nurse told him it was ok to cry and he just curled his body into mine and cried for half a second before he regained control.  Brave little guy.
Later that night he was trying to get into his pajamas and was struggling because he couldn't raise his arms up to take off his shirt.  When I asked him if his arms hurt, he shook his head and said that his band-aids hurt but he didn't want to take them off because he wanted to show them off at school the next day.  I asked again if his arms really didn't hurt and he said, "I just can't make them go straight."  And he tried to hold his arm out straight but was only able to raise it 1/4 of the way without wincing.  Thank heavens for medicine.  He was soon sleeping well and back to roughhousing with Addie and Coleman.  He was very excited to tell Coleman that he was next in line to get shots - when he's 12!  But when he found out it was really the baby who would be getting shots next, he was so sweet about how he would help the baby be brave.  I love that little guy!

Our Pet Alligator

Our family has unofficially adopted a neighborhood alligator.  We passed it by in the car one day and now look forward to each of our visits.  It's a good size alligator - over 5 feet and we have fun watching him bask in the sun, cool off in the water and eat an armadillo.  Note to self - #1 - Keep kids back at all times as they are very curious about our new large friend.  And #2 - Our new buddy does NOT like to be watched while he eats.
In the top picture and the one below is the sad little armadillo after Mr. Alligator killed it and then tossed it away from himself because we were watching.  Note the devilish red eyes!
The kids posing with their new pal - if you look further behind them you can see him.  I had to convince the kids that it wasn't all right to walk down the path to get a closer look of Mr. Alligator.

UGH! Missed it Again!

So much for my goal to write once a week!  I'm going to blame it on the revolving door of guests we have had for the last month.  We have truly been blessed with incredible visits with family.  My mom came out on the same flight as my sister Melisa and her family.  Had a great time celebrating Campbell's 5th birthday with Mom at Busch Gardens and then she returned home.  Melisa and her family stayed the rest of the week and we were able to go to the beach and play with them a bit before they headed home and the next day, Marc's sister Cheryl arrived an hour before my sister Melanie and her boys arrived.  They all stayed for a week.  Of course in the middle of all of this my kids were all sick.  Campbell had two horrific ear infections, Coleman had bronchitis - hoping to stop it before it became pneumonia, and Addison had the start of it all.  So three kids on antibiotics trying to keep up with all of the family bonding.  After a fun week with Cheryl and Mel and the boys, including a day up at Disney, they all returned home and Michelle and Laura arrived the next day.  They came with friends so we won't be seeing as much of them but look forward to the times that we do.

Tried to add some pictures as teasers but my computer isn't cooperating.  Maybe that is why it takes so long for me to blog.  Hmmmm.
