Pennsylvania

After leaving D.C., we were heading to Connecticut to stay with Michelle and Laura via The Liberty Bell.  We had only been driving a short while when Cooper decided he needed a break and we all needed a break from his screaming.  So, we stopped in Delaware for Donuts.
It was rainy and cold but we were all in good spirits as we filled our bellies and prepared for the next stretch of the road.  With all of the rain, we realized we were in need of new windshield wipers.  This is where our trip got a bit derailed.  We arrived in Pennsylvania in the POURING rain and due to our big ol' hull on the top of our car, the suggested parking was unavailable to us.  So, we parked aways away, and the kids and I ran in the rain to what we thought was the building that housed The Liberty Bell.  Marc was attempting to pay for the parking, when he realized that he had left his credit card in Delaware at the windshield wiper shop.  Ugh.

I thought we should quickly see The Liberty Bell and then go as a family to pick up the credit card.  Marc wanted to leave to get the card ASAP.  So, the kids and I stayed in Pennsylvania while Marc drove back to Delaware.  It was just at the start of rush hour traffic - in the pouring rain - so Marc was miserable.  We were in the wrong building and everything was closing, so the kids and I were a little miserable too.  Especially, when I realized I had left my wallet in the car also.  But we all made the best of it and ended up having a good time.

We met a couple of Revolutionary gentlemen who shared with us a bit of what life was like back in the day - even though they were trying to close up shop.

The kids and I watched a movie about George Washington and counted down the minutes until Marc would make it back.  We ran in the rain to see The Liberty Bell - getting fairly soaked and then had to run back again to wait for Marc.

Luckily, when Marc came back, he brought an umbrella.  We were much drier on our second visit to The Liberty Bell.  Cooper refused to leave my arms either time, so he didn't get a chance to have his picture taken standing in front of The Liberty Bell.
We initially had hoped to be to Michelle and Laura's by dinnertime, but with our extracurricular activities, it ended up being after 10:00pm by the time we arrived.  And the rain didn't let up for one moment.  I HATE driving in the rain.
